Mild steel offers the perfect medium for Wilbur's exploration of the dynamic balance inherent in sculpture: a moment frozen of implied motion.  His huge fondness for anatomy allows further juxtaposition of solid form and negative space.  While the figurative work forms the bulk of Wilbur's output, there are always challenges beyond nature that prove too tempting.

Every sculpture is unique, entirely created by hand.  Steel is a versatile metal, and there are a wide range of treatments for indoor and outdoor display.

Pursuing the two purest elements of sculpture: building up a form, and cutting back, Wilbur's work takes its main source from nature.  Indeed, when the work adheres most closely to nature, the mechanics have already been proven.
Nature forms the cornerstone to his work, and anatomy the mainstay of this exploration.  There exists a tantalising conundrum in capturing the essence of living motion in a fixed physical description.

Recently he has returned to his roots in working again with clay.  The material where his work began also encourages the pursuit of unique work, and the ongoing inspiration of nature.
